Optique Vison Care is proud to offer a comprehensive dry eye assessment program designed to thoughtfully evaluate the severity and underlying causes of dry eye syndrome. The program includes the following key components:
1. Patient History: We begin with a detailed review of the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and any medications that may contribute to dryness, ensuring a holistic understanding of their condition.
2. Symptom Questionnaires: Validated questionnaires, such as the Ocular Dryness Severity Index (ODSI), are utilized to effectively quantify symptom severity and its impact on the patient’s quality of life.
3. Ocular Surface Examination: An in-depth assessment of the ocular surface using specialized instruments, including:
– Slit-lamp biomicroscopy to identify any signs of inflammation, damage, or tear film instability.
– Fluorescein staining to visualize epithelial defects and evaluate tear film break-up time.
4. Tear Production Tests: We measure aqueous tear production through reputable tests, such as the Schirmer test, to gain insight into tear production levels.
5. Meibomian Gland Assessment: The program includes a thorough evaluation of the function and structure of the meibomian glands, using techniques such as expressibility tests to assess the quality and quantity of secretions.
6. Inflammation Assessment: We perform a quantitative analysis of inflammatory markers to understand the inflammatory response in the ocular surface.
7. Tear Film Stability Analysis: Measurement of tear break-up time (TBUT) is conducted to evaluate the stability of the tear film.
By integrating these diagnostic components, we aim to create a personalized treatment plan that may include options such as artificial tears, anti-inflammatory medications, punctal plugs, or lipid-based therapies, tailored to individual patient profiles.
